Turning from a linear to a circular economy has become a priority on the agendas of most supply chain operators. The passage from one model to another shifts the focus to reusing, adjusting, renewing and recycling existing materials and products.

It is about facing a challenge where success or failure depend on the prominence given to eco-innovation: new approaches, new products, new processes and new organizational structures, as well as a change in the long-term vision.

Unfortunately, it is not a change accessible to everyone since it requires re-engineering the product with important structural changes that imply the need to look for alternative materials, to redesign production lines, to manufacture prototypes and to analyze efficiency and performance. These operations inevitably lead to an increase in R&D costs and in the selection of raw materials with high added value. In addition, selling products made of recyclable materials requires structures suited for their decomposition and separate disposal procedures for subsequent re-introduction into production cycles.
